Little Grafa Sub-Branding and Packaging Design

Grafa is a workshop based in Melbourne’s inner west offering handmade garden tools.

“Little Grafa” is a sub-brand designed to extend its product offerings. The mini garden scoop will provide Grafa’s consumers of older generations with a gift that can benefit those who want to spend more quality time with their family doing things they love. Original copper garden tools can be heavy for children. Hence the idea for lighter and smaller tools for adults to introduce their kids to gardening. The packaging preserves Grafa’s elegance while still having a lively concept that will cater to younger users. The high quality of the packaging will provide more sentimental value to the gift. Sustainability was considered in all aspects of the packaging.

Little Grafa mini garden scoop packaging incorporates Grafa’s brand identity by having the shape of the packaging resembling Grafa’s logo; the shapes, windows, and curves on
the packaging all works as one to complete Grafa’s logo.

The handle of the packaging was designed to easily mount or store the packaging on the wall or tool table. Other than resembling Grafa’s logo, the curviness of the packaging communicates how Grafa proudly produces beautiful curves on their garden tools using materials that are durable yet malleable enough to bend. The snap opening mechanism was implemented with significant consideration for Grafa’s older consumers and younger end users - made up of textured, Recycled Polypropylene that provides grip, slightly flexible material that allows for easy opening while still capable of providing the packaging with security.

The sticker on the back was designed to be easily removed with no adhesive marks to promote the second use of this packaging which is to store the mini garden scoop or for further re-use as a multipurpose storage. Grafa's brand was only written on the sticker because the packaging itself communicates the brand sufficiently and subtly.
